Hyderabad: BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Saturday accused the Congress government of misusing police and administrative machinery to intimidate voters and harass party workers ahead of the November 11 Jubilee Hills by-election. He urged voters to support BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha and reject what he described as the ruling party’s campaign of fear and coercion.
Sohail said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had failed in both governance and democratic conduct. “Instead of serving the public, the government is detaining our workers, raiding homes, and threatening supporters to stifle BRS’s campaign,” he said.
BRS alleges cash distribution, fake videos by Congress
He further alleged that the Congress was distributing cash in Jubilee Hills to buy votes and circulating fake videos to damage BRS’s image. “This is not an election it’s a manipulation of democracy and public resources,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Sohail asserted that the BRS campaign, led by K.T. Rama Rao, had received strong public support. “Our leaders have reached out to every voter at least three times. Our campaign is built on trust, not bribes,” he said.
Sohail invoked the legacy of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, praising his service and accessibility. He said Maganti Sunitha was continuing that work and earning public goodwill.
Voters urged to reject politics of fear
Condemning Congress’s alleged scare tactics, Sohail said voters in Jubilee Hills were educated and politically aware. “They won’t be bought or bullied. They will respond with dignity and courage,” he said.
He criticised Congress for hypocrisy, claiming the party had once opposed coercive politics but was now using similar methods. “From neglecting economically disadvantaged groups to delaying welfare schemes, Congress is acting no differently from the BJP it criticises,” he said.
Sohail concluded by calling on voters to defend Telangana’s democratic values. “A vote for Maganti Sunitha is a vote for dignity, stability, and self-respect. On November 11, vote with confidence. Vote BRS,” he said.
