Hyderabad: An email claiming that unidentified persons had planted bombs near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) building in Shamshabad prompted a security sweep early Sunday.
The message of bomb threat at RGIA arrived at 06:23 and alleged devices were placed close to the airport premises. Security personnel immediately tightened checks and inspected the terminal building and nearby areas. They searched thoroughly with sniffer teams and other equipment. Officials found no explosives or suspicious items after the inspection and concluded that the RGIA bomb threat was a hoax.
Airport authorities then lodged a complaint with RGIA airport police, who registered a case and began an investigation. Police said they were gathering the email header and other digital leads to trace the sender Officials added that more details would follow as the probe progressed.
