Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao demanded a recount in the Jagtial panchayat poll. He alleged serious irregularities during vote counting in Paidipalle village of Velgatoor mandal, highlighting concerns in the Jagtial panchayat poll.
Rao claimed that during the third phase of Gram Panchayat counting, votes from another ballot were excluded. This resulted in the BJP-backed candidate Jakkula Mamatha Sekhar losing by a margin of 17 votes. Furthermore, he said the party’s request for a recount was legitimate but dismissed by the authorities overseeing the Jagtial panchayat poll.
He also condemned police action at the counting center during the Jagtial panchayat poll. Here, officers allegedly lathi-charged and fired in the air to disperse BJP supporters gathered peacefully. Rao accused the Congress government of providing protection to BRS-backed candidate Gangula Nagesh. This, he said, was proof of collusion between the two parties.

Calling for an impartial inquiry, Rao said the recount must take place under strict supervision. This is needed to restore public confidence in the electoral process. He asserted that democracy should not be compromised through intimidation or misuse of state machinery.
