Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government is implementing comprehensive electricity reforms to improve service quality for both farmers and the general public.
Speaking during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council on Monday, Bhatti stated that the government is not only resolving issues inherited from previous administrations but also adopting modern technology to bring the electricity department closer to citizens.
Over 3.4 lakh farmers receive power connections
Between January 2022 and December 2025, the government issued 3,44,462 new agricultural connections. Additionally, they installed 75,686 transformers based on connected load requirements. “We are strictly following seniority and maintaining full transparency,” Bhatti assured.
He said another 9,700 transformers will be sanctioned once related line works are completed. Highlighting the recent pace, he noted that nearly two lakh connections were issued during 2024 and 2025 alone. According to him, this clearly reflects the government’s commitment to supporting farmers.
“Electricity ambulances” rolled out for faster restoration
To address outages more efficiently, the state has launched “electricity ambulances,” modeled on the 108 emergency system. Citizens can dial 1912, and a service vehicle equipped with mobile transformers, thermal cameras, and safety kits will reach the site.
Each unit includes an engineer and two support staff who immediately begin repairs. “This approach restores power swiftly, especially in rural areas,” Bhatti explained.
He further said that there is no shortage of electricity poles, wires, or transformers anywhere in the state. Through the “Praja Bata” programme, officials now visit villages three days a week to fix bent poles and dangling wires.
Bhatti assured the Council that his department will resolve any issue flagged by legislators in writing within 24 hours.
