Bomb threat at Begumpet Meteorological Centre triggers police search

Hyderabad: A Begumpet Meteorological Centre bomb threat triggered a large-scale security search after officials received an email claiming a bomb had been planted at the facility.

Authorities said unidentified persons sent the email to the Meteorological Department around 6 am.

Officials noticed the message later in the morning and immediately alerted the police. Soon after, security teams reached the Begumpet centre and began inspections.

Bomb disposal squads and police personnel carried out thorough checks across the premises following the Begumpet Meteorological Centre bomb threat.

Police teams examined the entire premises step by step to detect any explosive device. The bomb disposal squad also conducted detailed inspections during the operation.

Begumpet ACP Gopalakrishna supervised the security checks along with local CI and SI officers.

The search continued for several hours after the Begumpet Meteorological Centre bomb threat email was reported.

However, police later confirmed that no bomb or suspicious object was found at the location.

Authorities said the alert turned out to be a hoax message. Police are now examining the email and trying to identify the persons responsible for sending the threat.
