Investigators have begun examining the circumstances that led to the suicide. Officers are collecting details from classmates and hostel staff to establish the sequence of events.

At the hospital, police deployed security personnel and restricted media entry. The move led to speculation among observers present at the site.
Basara IIIT has reported student suicides in the past as well. In November 2024, PUC second-year student Swathipriya took her life, and police then said her note mentioned loneliness and depression.
Earlier in April that year, a student named Aravind died by suicide two days before examinations. Reports at the time indicated that he feared authorities would inform his family about low attendance.
