Hyderabad: Bank services may be hit due to January-end bank holidays, prompting experts to urge customers to plan branch-related work in advance. These bank holidays could impact availability at your local branch.
Banks will remain closed on January 24 as it is the fourth Saturday. The following day, January 25, is a Sunday, when banks do not operate, further extending the bank holidays period.
Banks across the country will also shut on January 26 to mark Republic Day. As a result, customers will not get branch services for three consecutive days due to the cluster of bank holidays.
Bank services may be hit further if the strike goes ahead
In addition, bank employee unions have announced a nationwide strike on January 27, demanding the implementation of a five-day work week. If unions proceed with the strike, banks may remain closed for four straight days. In summary, this could extend the bank holidays even more.
Experts advised customers to complete in-branch transactions ahead of the holiday stretch. They also urged people to avoid last-minute visits during the closure period.
However, banks will continue to offer digital services without interruption. Net banking, UPI transactions, mobile banking apps and ATM services will function as usual.
Customers can make digital payments, withdraw cash and check balances online during the holiday period. Banks have assured that essential electronic services will remain unaffected.
