Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday asserted that the BJP would unfurl the saffron flag at the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in the upcoming elections.
As part of the municipal poll campaign, Bandi Sanjay toured Rajasthan Chowrasta, Loyola College, and Butti Rajaram Colony areas in Karimnagar. During street-corner meetings, he said rival parties faced a bleak future in these elections. He claimed the Bharat Rashtra Samithi had lost relevance in Karimnagar. According to him, the party would remain confined to just four seats.
He further said that even if the Congress and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen joined hands through backdoor understandings, they would still fail to cross 20 seats. Meanwhile, he recalled that authorities arrested nine corporators during the previous BRS rule for alleged land encroachments.
Bandi Sanjay promises development, warns encroachers
Bandi Sanjay said protecting public property remained his responsibility. Therefore, he warned that he would act firmly against land encroachers. Recalling his political journey, he said he entered public life only to serve the people. He added that he would continue working as a servant of Karimnagar throughout his life.
He also said Karimnagar’s development depended largely on funds from the Centre. Under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, he said the Union government sanctioned ₹132 crore to the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. According to him, these funds would permanently resolve drinking water issues in the Malkapur and Chintakunta areas.
In addition, he said authorities had prepared tenders worth about ₹18 crore. These cover new CC roads and drainage works in Malkapur and Chintakunta villages. He noted that Smart City funds had transformed Rekurthi’s landscape. Moreover, he promised to develop a central lighting corridor from Rekurthi to Kothapalli in the future.
