Hyderabad: Union Minister and BJP MP Bandi Sanjay alleged that the Congress, BRS and MIM were conspiring to prevent the BJP from securing the Karimnagar Mayor’s post.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP State office on Saturday, Bandi Sanjay warned against what he termed a violation of the public mandate. He said the party would strongly oppose any political manoeuvring to deny it power in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
Bandi Sanjay stated that the BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the corporation elections. He added that independent councillors had extended support and expressed confidence that the party would form the mayoral leadership. However, he ruled out any alliance with Congress, BRS or MIM.

The BJP leader also criticised the MIM over its “Revival Day” event. He claimed that the party’s influence was declining, while the BJP was steadily expanding its base.
In the 66-member Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, the BJP won 30 divisions. Congress secured 14 seats, while the BRS won 9. The MIM bagged 3 seats, Independents won 8 and the Forward Bloc secured 2.
Since no party secured a clear majority, negotiations among parties are expected to determine the mayoral outcome.
