HYDRAA chief reviews Bamnur-Rukn-ud-Dowla lake revamp ahead of launch

Hyderabad: Bamnur-Rukn-ud-Dowla lake in Hyderabad’s Old City has undergone a major transformation, with development works nearing completion. GHMC Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed the site late Tuesday night and issued instructions to prepare the lake for public opening after the upcoming festival.

The Commissioner walked along the nearly two-kilometre bund, inspecting amenities and interacting with locals. Based on their inputs, he directed officials to enhance facilities further.

Ranganath instructed the installation of clearly visible CCTV cameras around the lake. He also called for the provision of suitable fitness equipment for women, noting their increasing footfall at the site.

To preserve the site’s heritage, he ordered the installation of a plaque narrating the lake’s history at the entrance. He also suggested planting medicinal flora around the lake to complement its historically therapeutic waters.

The civic chief emphasised making the lake surroundings safe and enjoyable for both children and adults. He instructed that all pending works be completed swiftly to allow for a formal launch after the festival.
