Azharuddin launches Eid Ka Tohfa distribution in Telangana

Hyderabad: Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin launched the distribution of Eid Ka Tohfa gift packets for economically weaker families in Telangana. Through this programme, the government aims to support families during the holy month of Ramzan.

The government plans to distribute 2.66 lakh Ramzan gift packets across the state. In addition, authorities will organise Iftar dinners in 813 mosques during Ramzan.

The programme began with the first batch distribution at the Royal Mosque, Nampally on Friday. Meanwhile, officials said distribution will continue across districts in the coming days.

Officials explained that each gift packet includes a sari with blouse piece, a chudidar top with chunni and a kurta–pyjama set.

The government has also sanctioned ₹1 lakh for each mosque. Consequently, mosque committees will organise Iftar gatherings and facilitate community participation during Ramzan.

Minister Mohammed Azharuddin thanked Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for introducing the Eid Ka Tohfa initiative. According to him, the programme will help economically weaker families celebrate Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr with dignity.

He further said the initiative will strengthen communal harmony and social unity in the state. At the same time, the programme encourages community participation during the festive season.

Faheem Qureshi, president of Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGMREIS), said the government plans to distribute Eid gifts to beneficiaries across Telangana.

He added that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting people. Moreover, it promotes the spirit of care and sharing during the month of Ramzan.

Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah and several officials also attended the programme.
