Aster Quality Care begins operations after merger, expands hospital network

Hyderabad: Aster Quality Care officially began operations after the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Limited. The merger created one of India’s largest integrated healthcare providers with 39 hospitals across 28 cities and more than 10,600 beds.

The merged healthcare group brings together four hospital brands—CARE Hospitals, Evercare, KIMSHEALTH and Aster DM. The company said it would expand advanced healthcare services beyond metropolitan cities. It also plans to strengthen its presence in emerging healthcare markets.

Azad Moopen will continue as Executive Chairman. Meanwhile, Varun Khanna has taken charge as Managing Director and Group CEO.

Aster Quality Care to expand advanced healthcare

The group plans to strengthen specialist care and advanced medical technologies in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. These include Nagpur, Vijayawada, Guntur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Kolhapur, Kannur and Nagercoil.

As a result, patients will have better access to advanced treatment closer to home. This expansion will reduce the need to travel to metropolitan cities for complex procedures.

Speaking at the launch, Azad Moopen said the merger marked a defining milestone. He said the combined organisation would build one of India’s most trusted healthcare institutions through clinical excellence, medical expertise and patient-centric care.

Varun Khanna said the immediate priority is seamless integration. He added that the company will ensure uninterrupted patient care. Moreover, it will strengthen digital healthcare solutions and improve clinical outcomes.

Aster Quality Care plans technology investments

The combined entity plans to invest in Gamma Knife systems, robotic surgery platforms, stereotactic radiosurgery systems and 12 additional LINAC-based radiation therapy units across emerging cities.

Aster Quality Care also plans to expand capacity beyond 15,000 beds in the coming years. Additionally, it aims to strengthen its workforce to more than 45,000 healthcare professionals. The expansion will create thousands of new employment opportunities across the country.
