Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare an Anganwadi buildings plan to ensure all centres operate from their own premises within three years instead of rented buildings.
He instructed authorities to design implementation steps so that every Anganwadi centre across the state shifts to permanent infrastructure. The move aimed to end dependence on rented spaces and strengthen service delivery.
At a programme held in the Assembly meeting hall, the Chief Minister also launched the Toli Mudda breakfast scheme for Anganwadi children. On the same occasion, he initiated the distribution of mobile phones to Anganwadi teachers.
He said nutritious food must be provided to children. “With the thought of primarily focusing on their health, we have taken up this prestigious scheme,” he stated. He added that the government had examined nutrition needs from pregnancy to early childhood before launching the initiative.
Anganwadi buildings plan focuses on child health and early nutrition
Revanth Reddy said the first six years of a child’s life were critical for growth and health. He warned that lack of proper nutrition during this phase would affect development. Therefore, he said, the government must proceed with careful planning.
He stressed that preventing illness was more important than treating it later. He noted that large public funds were being spent on healthcare after diseases occurred. In contrast, he said, early nutrition could reduce such burdens.
The Chief Minister told Anganwadi staff that even the best government programme would succeed only with proper field-level implementation. “That grave responsibility lies with you,” he said. He added that the government trusted their understanding of hunger and child care.
He described Anganwadi workers as part of the government’s family. He assured them that any financial issues would be addressed on priority if constraints arose.
Anganwadi buildings plan tied to staff support and welfare delivery
Revanth Reddy said the Anganwadi buildings plan would complement nutrition schemes like the breakfast initiative. He underlined that infrastructure and service delivery must improve together.
He reiterated that the Anganwadi system played a key role in supporting mothers and children from pregnancy through early childhood. Therefore, he said, strengthening these centres remained a priority.
Ministers including Seethakka and Konda Surekha attended the programme. Telangana Child Rights Protection Commission Chairman Sita Dayakar Reddy, senior officials, Anganwadi teachers and children also participated.
The announcements combined infrastructure expansion, nutrition support and staff welfare under a single policy push. With the Anganwadi buildings plan, the government signalled a shift towards long-term strengthening of early childhood services across the state.
