Tight security at crowded Andhra Pradesh locations, surprise railway checks underway

Hyderabad: Acting on instructions from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, security has been ramped up at crowded public spaces across Andhra Pradesh, with police launching a coordinated surprise inspection campaign at major railway stations across the state.

Under the direct supervision of the Director General of Police, joint teams carried out simultaneous searches at key stations, including Vijayawada. Multiple individuals deemed suspicious were detained on the spot for questioning.

The inspection drive was led by Railway SP Rahul Dev Singh, who oversaw the operation as personnel combed through platforms, waiting halls, and surrounding areas. Authorities are taking precautionary steps amid concerns over public safety, though no specific threat has been cited officially.

These checks come as part of a broader effort to bolster vigilance in high-traffic transit hubs and enforce a visible security presence during a period of increased footfall.
