HYDERABAD: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has criticized the Telangana state government for delays in the Amberpet Flyover construction, attributing them to incomplete land acquisitions. In a recent tweet, he stated that the project, with an investment of approximately Rs 400 crore, is 90% complete. However, the state’s failure to finalize land acquisitions has hindered its timely completion.
Minister’s concerns over land acquisition
Kishan Reddy expressed frustration over the state’s inaction regarding land acquisition, emphasizing that despite obtaining special permissions from the Union Road Transport Ministry to ensure the flyover’s construction does not affect the nearby cemetery, the state government has not fulfilled its responsibilities. He urged the state to expedite land acquisition to facilitate the project’s completion.
Recent Developments and Temporary Opening
Recently, the Amberpet Flyover was temporarily opened to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. This decision followed Minister Reddy’s inspection and discussions with officials, during which he directed that vehicles be allowed on the flyover. However, work on the service roads beneath the flyover remains incomplete due to ongoing land acquisition issues and the presence of religious structures.
