Hyderabad: AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Saturday made pointed remarks in the Telangana Assembly, criticising the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for staying away from the House.
While speaking in the House, Owaisi said a leader who did not attend the Assembly was deciding its agenda. In this context, he remarked in an apparent reference to BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao. Earlier, he recalled, the leader had promised to attend the House and speak on irrigation.
However, Owaisi said BRS MLAs later chose to remain absent from the Assembly. As a result, he questioned how a party could demand debates while keeping its members away from the House.
BRS skips House, stages protest
Meanwhile, Owaisi’s comments came a day after BRS MLAs walked out of the Assembly. According to the party, the government denied them a chance to speak or protest after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy addressed the House.
Following the walkout, the BRS decided to stay away from discussions on government Bills. Subsequently, the MLAs raised slogans near the legislators’ entrance. They also accused Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar of acting in a biased manner.
Later, the BRS MLAs went to Gun Park and staged a sit-in protest. Notably, the party’s legislators did not attend the Assembly on Saturday.
