Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued fresh summons to BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Formula E race management case. The notice, served on Friday, directs KTR to appear for questioning at 10 am on Monday, June 16.
This marks the second time ACB has called in KTR for questioning. Earlier, on May 28, officials had summoned him, but he was unable to attend as he was travelling in the United States. After informing the ACB that he would be available once he returned to India, the agency has now scheduled his appearance once again.
The case centres around the organisation of the Formula E race held in Hyderabad during the previous BRS government’s tenure. Allegations surfaced that nearly ₹55 crore were misused in the conduct of the event, prompting the ACB to register a case and launch an investigation. In the FIR, KTR has been named Accused No. 1, followed by then Municipal Administration Secretary and senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar as Accused No. 2, and former HMDA Chief Engineer B.L.N. Reddy as Accused No. 3.
Back in January, ACB officials had already questioned KTR, Arvind Kumar, and B.L.N. Reddy on separate occasions, gathering initial information. At that time, the officials had indicated that further questioning might follow. Greenko’s Ace NextGen MD Chalamalachetty Anil Kumar was also questioned during that phase. After nearly a three-month lull following the January round of interrogations, the ACB has now decided to proceed with a second round of questioning for KTR, issuing the latest summons accordingly.
