Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught Khammam Assistant Labour Officer K. Chander red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant. The officer had allegedly demanded the money to process a welfare application under a state scheme.
According to ACB officials, Chander sought the bribe to forward a beneficiary file linked to the complainant’s father’s death. The application pertained to the sanction of ₹1.30 lakh under the Natural Death Funeral Expenditure scheme of the Telangana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The trap was executed at 5:10 PM at Government Junior College in Khammam. ACB teams apprehended Chander while he was receiving the bribe. Officials recovered the tainted currency notes from his possession.
The bureau said the officer acted “improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.” Chander was arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases in Warangal.
Authorities have withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons. Further investigation is underway.
