Hyderabad: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Congress government has so far completed 62 per cent of rice distribution to beneficiaries in Telangana. The civil supplies department has prepared to distribute 5.58 lakh tonnes of rice to the state’s 3.1 crore beneficiaries.
According to the latest posts on ‘X’ from the Official Twitter handle of Telangana Pradesh Congress, the government is supplying 18 kg of rice per family to a total of 91.83 lakh ration card holders through 17,349 ration shops. An average of 15 lakh transactions are being recorded daily across these centres. Till now, 1.81 crore transactions have been completed, covering 56.40 lakh families.
Alongside distribution, the government has also issued new ration cards and resolved issues pending for nearly a decade. The distribution programme officially began on April 1, 2025, in Huzurnagar, where Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched the scheme as part of the Ugadi festival.
According to officials, the Congress government’s rice distribution programme has plugged significant leakages where large sums were previously siphoned off by middlemen and unauthorised dealers. With these checks in place, rice is now reaching the intended poor families, drawing a positive response to the scheme.
