492 booked in two-day drunk driving drive by Hyderabad Traffic Police

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 492 motorists during a two-day drunk driving drive conducted on February 20 and 21 to enhance road safety across the city.

During the enforcement operation, officers caught 492 drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Of them, 412 were two-wheeler riders, 29 were three-wheeler drivers and 51 were four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers.

The police classified cases based on Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) levels. Authorities registered 109 cases with BAC levels between 30 and 50.

Further, they booked 205 cases in the 51–100 range and 97 cases in the 101–150 category. Additionally, 47 motorists recorded BAC levels between 151 and 200.

Drunk driving drive reveals high BAC violations

Police also registered 19 cases in the 201–250 range and four cases between 251 and 300. Alarmingly, 11 offenders recorded BAC levels above 300.

Through the drunk driving drive, Hyderabad Traffic Police reiterated zero tolerance towards violations. Officials stated that such special enforcement operations would continue in the interest of public safety.

Therefore, the department urged commuters to cooperate with enforcement teams. It also advised motorists to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol.
