Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the future of the nation depends on healthy youth habits while inaugurating the Yuva Bharat Run 2026 in Hyderabad on Sunday.
He flagged off the event at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, where more than 10,000 participants gathered. The run, organised by Delhi Public School and Pallavi Schools with MLC Malka Komraiah, promoted fitness and unity among students, families, and professionals.
The event began at 6 AM and received support from Fit India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Participants competed in multiple categories, including a 5 km timed run called “The Challenge,” a 2 km “Run & Bond” for families, and a 500-metre race for children of Grades 3 to 5.
The Governor described the event as more than a run and called it a people’s movement. He urged families to adopt active lifestyles and asked youth to contribute to building a self-reliant India. He also stressed the need to eliminate drug abuse and promote discipline.
Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy attended the event along with IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and BJP state president Ramchandra Rao. Actor Sharwanand was also present. The dignitaries jointly flagged off the runs and encouraged participants.
Yuva Bharat Run 2026 highlights youth fitness message
Addressing the gathering, Venkaiah Naidu emphasised the role of youth and education in nation-building. He urged young people to stay rooted in their culture by speaking their mother tongue and respecting elders.
He advised participants to follow disciplined routines, including waking up early, exercising regularly, and eating home-cooked food. He also warned against excessive use of social media, calling it distracting and unproductive.
Venkaiah Naidu said mobile phones should be used only when necessary. He encouraged youth to improve focus and mental well-being. He also highlighted India’s growing global stature and said the country’s strength is meant for protection and justice.
He concluded by stressing the importance of both physical activity and good conduct. He urged families to spend time together and resolve issues through dialogue while preserving cultural values.
The event also featured Zumba and yoga sessions, Heartfulness meditation, play zones, food stalls, and entertainment activities. Organisers announced a prize pool of ₹1,00,000 for top performers.
The Yuva Bharat Run 2026 combined fitness, awareness, and social values, drawing a large turnout and reinforcing the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
