Yoga sessions promote preventive healthcare under the state initiative
Yoga improves physical and mental well-being and represents a holistic lifestyle, he said. He pointed out that sedentary habits and poor diet are increasing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer.
According to him, the government conducts free screenings for people above 30 years. He added that 46 lakh women are receiving comprehensive health tests, while authorities are administering HPV vaccines to prevent cervical cancer.
The government is also preparing digital health profiles and issuing health cards, he said. It is taking steps to curb adulterated food and improve services through 145 polyclinics in urban areas.
Programmes like Bala Bharosa help identify health issues in children at an early stage. The government has strengthened AYUSH systems and appointed 750 yoga trainers across the state.
Nearly 10 lakh people have been introduced to yoga through these initiatives. The minister said authorities are taking steps to introduce BNYS and postgraduate courses in yoga education.
He urged citizens to adopt yoga or other physical activity in daily life. He added that good health is essential for individual and societal well-being.
