Hyderabad: BRAOU Vice-Chancellor Ghanta Chakrapani said women students entrepreneurs must emerge as leaders in business and society while addressing International Women’s Day celebrations at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University campus.
He attended the programme as the chief guest and encouraged female students to aim for financial independence. According to him, entrepreneurship can empower women and create new opportunities for growth and leadership.
Chakrapani said the university has introduced the “WE-Enable” initiative to promote entrepreneurial thinking among women learners. The programme also aims to improve employability skills and prepare students for professional challenges.
He added that education and innovation together can help women build successful careers and contribute to society.

Keynote speaker Priyanka Varghese, Director of the Telangana Forest Academy, stressed that respect for women must begin at home.
She said education and access to resources help women achieve both academic and economic success. According to her, supportive families and institutions play an important role in empowering women.
G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director (Academic) of BRAOU, presided over the programme. She described women as a powerful force in society and emphasised the university’s commitment to eliminating discrimination through education.
Registrar L. Vijaya Krishna Reddy also spoke at the event and highlighted several initiatives introduced by the university for women’s empowerment.
He encouraged female students to take advantage of these programmes and strengthen their professional and leadership abilities.
Faculty members, staff, and students participated in the celebrations organised by the Women’s Development and Extension Centre at the university.
