Adilabad: A brutal murder in Gudihatnur mandal of Adilabad district has sent shockwaves through the local community. On Thursday, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death with a knife following a domestic dispute.
According to Ichoda Circle Inspector Bhemesh, the accused, Latpate Maruti of Gudihatnur, was married to Keerthi, the daughter of Munde Suryakant, for 13 years. The couple’s marriage was initially stable, but trouble began after Maruti accumulated debts of around ₹8 lakh while running a dairy farm and reportedly entered into an extramarital affair with a married woman in the locality.
When Keerthi confronted him about the affair, tensions escalated between them. She eventually left her husband and returned to her parental home. A few days ago, a panchayat was held in the presence of elders to address the matter. Sources said Maruti was angered during the meeting, believing that Keerthi had publicly humiliated him.
Driven by rage and a desire for revenge, Maruti reportedly resolved to kill her. On Thursday morning, when Keerthi was drawing water from a borewell near her house and her parents were not at home, Maruti allegedly approached her from behind and attacked her neck with a knife.
Keerthi sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed by locals in a 108 ambulance to RIMS Hospital in Adilabad. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Based on a complaint lodged by Keerthi’s father, Suryakant Munde, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation, CI Bhemesh confirmed.
