Hyderabad: A horrific murder in the Old City late Wednesday night has left residents of Chandrayangutta in deep shock. A 55-year-old woman was found dead in her home at Indira Nagar – her body badly burnt after what police believe was a brutal killing.
Neighbours noticed smoke and flames coming from her room and raised an alarm. Police arrived soon after and discovered the charred remains inside. Early findings suggest the woman’s throat was slit before the room was set on fire — likely an attempt to erase evidence, officials said.
She was believed to be a daily-wage worker who had been living alone. The body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem.
One person has been picked up for questioning, and police say they’re working to establish the motive. A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
