Hyderabad: A ward boy at Andhra Mahila Sabha Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital in Vidyanagar was arrested for attempting to rape a female patient undergoing treatment in the facility.
The incident unfolded when the patient, left alone in her room, was allegedly targeted by the accused. Spotting the woman unattended, the hospital staffer entered her room and tried to assault her.
The patient raised an alarm, drawing immediate attention. Hospital workers and her relatives rushed in, caught the ward boy at the scene, and assaulted him before informing police.
Nallakunta police reached the hospital shortly after receiving the complaint. A case was registered, and the accused was taken into custody.
Investigation is ongoing.
