Hyderabad: The Telangana Transport Department introduced the VAHAN portal system for vehicle registration, enabling non-transport temporary registrations from March 23, 2026, as part of its digital governance push.
The department trained around 1,000 dealers through physical and online sessions. This step ensured the smooth processing of temporary registrations across the state.
Officials completed 346 financial integrations and authorised 671 dealers. As a result, the system now supports decentralised and seamless service delivery.
VAHAN portal expands services with permanent registration rollout
Authorities strengthened the system in phases through module-based upgrades. This approach improved efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
So far, the department has generated around 33,000 temporary registration certificates through the VAHAN portal. Meanwhile, officials will begin issuing permanent registration certificates from April 11.
Citizens will also be able to download registration certificates and driving licences through the NextGen mParivahan app. In addition, the department plans to enable more services on the app in phases.
Officials said the initiative improves transparency and reduces processing time. They added that the system ensures hassle-free services and supports technology-driven governance.
