Urea Booking App takes off, records high downloads in five districts

Hyderabad: The Agriculture Department reported strong adoption of the Urea Booking App during a two-day pilot conducted in five districts. Officials said nearly one lakh farmers downloaded the application during this period.

A total of 19,695 farmers booked 60,510 urea bags through the Urea Booking App from dealers located near their villages. In addition, 217 tenant farmers booked 678 urea bags using the same platform, officials said.

District-wise data showed 897 farmers in Adilabad, 5,150 in Jangaon, 3,741 in Mahabubnagar, 3,618 in Nalgonda, and 6,289 in Peddapalli, placing bookings through the Urea Booking App. Minor technical issues appeared at a few locations on the first day. Officials resolved them without delay.

Farmers expressed satisfaction with the Urea Booking App, according to officials. The app allowed them to check dealer-wise stock availability in advance. As a result, farmers booked urea early and visited shops later. They completed purchases by showing OTPs at the counters.

Urea Booking App review before statewide rollout

After reviewing the pilot outcome, Agriculture Minister Tummala instructed officials to monitor the App for a few more days and prepare it for statewide rollout.

Officials said they clarified farmers’ doubts related to the app during the Rythu Nestham programme held on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the state received 5.30 lakh metric tonnes of urea for the ongoing Rabi season.

The government is making advance arrangements to ensure adequate urea supplies during January and February, when demand usually rises, officials added.
