HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay has challenged the Telangana government to remove Muslim minorities from the Backward Classes (BC) category, arguing that such a move would facilitate the full implementation of 42% reservations for BCs in education, employment, and political sectors.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday, Sanjay criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his recent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste, calling them a diversion from unfulfilled electoral promises, including the ‘Six Guarantees’ pledged by the Congress party.
Sanjay questioned whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi identifies as a BC, SC, or ST and accused the Congress of engaging in caste-based politics. He reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) stance against religion-based reservations, asserting that the party supports an equitable system where opportunities are provided based on merit rather than religious affiliation.
