1,150 kg unhygienic meat seized in Balapur, five held

Hyderabad: Balapur Police seized 1,150 kg of unhygienic meat during a raid on a cold storage unit supplying to hotels and restaurants.

Inspector Sudhakar said police identified the unit operating under Salami Industries within the Balapur police station limits. The facility stored meat for several weeks and supplied it to multiple establishments.

During the inspection, officials found 1,150 kg of unhygienic goat and sheep meat, including head meat and boti, kept in poor conditions.

Unhygienic meat stored beyond the permitted period in Balapur

Police said the operator stored meat beyond the permitted duration and sold it in bulk to restaurants. This violated food safety norms and storage regulations.

Officials detained the cold storage operator along with four others for questioning. Meanwhile, police registered a case and began an investigation.

Authorities said they will examine the supply chain and take further action based on the findings.
