Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada to take up pending inter-state issues and key development proposals.
During the visit, Tummala Nageswara Rao focused on strengthening coordination between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting revisited their long association from the undivided Andhra Pradesh period. At the same time, it aimed to advance cooperation on priority sectors.
In the discussions, the Telangana minister examined the proposal to integrate five geographically enclosed gram panchayats under a revised administrative framework. As a result, the move carries direct implications for tribal livelihoods in the region.
Further, Tummala reviewed plans to permanently restore the Pedda Vagu irrigation system. The system irrigates nearly 16,000 acres. Importantly, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share its benefits in an 85:15 ratio.

He also raised concerns about the Bhadrachalam flood-protection embankment. Therefore, Tummala Nageswara Rao urged immediate strengthening of the structure to reduce flood risk in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, Tummala meeting covered plans to facilitate TTD-associated spiritual infrastructure in Khammam. In this context, he sought cooperation to expand related religious amenities.
Moreover, Minister Tummala discussed allocating five acres in Tirumala to develop facilities for Telangana pilgrims. Consequently, the proposal aims to improve access and convenience for devotees.
In addition, the Telangana Minister reviewed the Sattupalli–Kovvur and Penuballi–Amaravati railway links to strengthen regional connectivity. Finally, he addressed broader measures for inclusive growth across border districts.
