Tribal Welfare Dept launches fabric block printing training at TRI

Hyderabad: The Tribal Welfare Department began a five-day residential programme on fabric block printing at the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Hyderabad.

The training started on February 26 and will continue till March 2. Officials organised it under the guidance of Special Chief Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh through TCR & TI.

A total of 30 participants are attending the programme. They include 20 craft teachers and 10 tribal artisans. The sessions focus on traditional tribal art techniques applied to fabric block printing.

ITDA officials from Utnoor, Eturnagaram and Bhadrachalam nominated the participants. Authorities also selected candidates from plain areas through the concerned ITDA offices.

The department is providing food, accommodation and transport facilities. In addition, it is paying an honorarium of ₹1,000 per day to each of the 10 tribal artisans.

TRI Director Dr. V. Samujwala attended the programme. Museum Curator Dr. D. Satyanarayana also participated. SHHOP Director Dr. Sunita Prasad and her team conducted the training. Training Coordinator Smt. Ajmeera Shailaja and TRI staff were present.
