TGSRTC JAC announces new agitation by RTC workers over Congress promises

Hyderabad: TGSRTC JAC has announced a new round of agitation by RTC workers, alleging that the Congress government failed to implement election manifesto promises even two years after assuming office.

TGSRTC JAC chairman Eeduru Venkanna, vice-chairman N. Kamalakar Reddy, and co-conveners Kathula Yadayya and B. Yadagiri said RTC workers remained deeply dissatisfied with the government’s response to their demands.

They said the TGSRTC JAC held an emergency meeting at the Employees Union central office on Tuesday. During the meeting, leaders alleged that the present government continued the same policies followed by the previous regime.

According to Venkanna, the TGSRTC JAC repeatedly brought workers’ issues to the notice of senior government leaders. However, he said the lack of concrete action forced RTC workers to step up protests.

TGSRTC JAC outlines statewide agitation programme

The TGSRTC JAC leaders recalled that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had publicly stated on May Day last year that the government was committed to resolving the issues of RTC workers. However, they alleged that not a single demand was resolved even after seven months.

As a result, the TGSRTC JAC decided to escalate agitation against what it described as anti-worker policies of the Congress government.

As part of the programme, RTC workers will conduct a postcard campaign from Tuesday until January 19. In addition, the TGSRTC JAC called on RTC workers and employees across the state to observe a protest day on January 20 by wearing red badges.

The TGSRTC JAC appealed to the working class to remain united and ensure the success of the agitation.

Several union leaders, including J. Raghavulu, K. Ramireddy (EU), treasurer B. Yadayya, C. Satthayya, M.H. Ali, Buddha Vishal, G. Ramulu (BKYU), Ramchander, and B. Srinivas Goud, attended the meeting.
