TG High Court extends HCA supervision by retired judge

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has extended by three weeks its earlier interim order placing the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) under the supervision of retired judge Justice Naveen Rao.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the Shafilguda Cricket Club, which alleged financial irregularities within HCA and sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. The bench had previously appointed Justice Rao to oversee HCA operations and barred any activity without his approval.

The latest extension continues that oversight and adjourns the matter for further hearing after three weeks.

Shafilguda Cricket Club had also asked the court to declare the July 19 annual general meeting of HCA invalid and to vest all administrative powers with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The petition raised concerns about governance, transparency, and financial mismanagement within the state cricket body.

In response, the court had restrained HCA from undertaking any action without clearance from the court-appointed supervisor. These directions remain in force following Monday’s extension.
