Telangana braces for four days of rain, IMD issues yellow alert
The IMD said a cyclonic circulation currently lies over the southeast Bay of Bengal near South Andaman. It extends up to 5.8 km above sea level. Because of this system, a low-pressure area is likely to form within the next 24 hours.
Officials added that the system may move northwest and later develop into a depression over the central Bay of Bengal within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the department warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching 30–40 km per hour between Monday and Wednesday. Light to moderate rain may also reach Hyderabad during this period. Therefore, residents have been advised to stay alert.
Heavy rain is likely in Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar
On Sunday, some districts recorded moderate rainfall. The IMD forecast heavy showers in Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar on Thursday and Friday.
Additionally, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS) reported light to moderate rainfall in Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Siddipet, Mulugu, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad, and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Moreover, officials said Hyderabad could also witness short, intense spells of rain this week.
