Hyderabad: Telangana weather is currently experiencing huge volatility with intense heat during the day followed by heavy thunderstorms and rain at night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of alerts in response to the sudden shifts in climate patterns across the state.
Daytime temperatures have reached record levels in several regions, subjecting residents to severe heat stress. To add to their difficulties, strong winds and dry gusts have further intensified discomfort. However, the late-night rainfall has provided some temporary relief, though at the cost of agricultural damage, with unseasonal rains affecting standing crops in many areas.
On Sunday night, heavy rain lashed several parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, where the downpour disrupted power supply in multiple localities. In various districts, powerful gusts blew away rooftop structures and caused minor structural damage, adding to the chaos.
In the latest update, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for 23 districts across Telangana for Monday night, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Districts including Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Narayanpet, and Ranga Reddy are expected to receive significant rainfall. Hyderabad is also likely to witness rainfall at several locations during the night.
Winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h are forecast, and residents are advised to take precautions against lightning strikes and wind damage. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate showers across the state over the next two days.
For Wednesday, the IMD has issued an orange alert for 17 districts and a yellow alert for 12 others, highlighting continued weather instability. Officials have urged the public to remain cautious, especially during night-time weather changes, and to stay informed through official updates.
The weather department’s advisory stresses preparedness, urging residents to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and secure loose outdoor items to prevent damage or injury from strong winds.
