Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha announced that the state will establish 109 trauma care facilities along national and state highways under the Telangana trauma centres plan.
The minister said the initiative formed part of a comprehensive Trauma Care Policy aimed at reducing fatalities from road accidents and emergencies. He added that the system prioritised rapid response and immediate transport of victims to hospitals.
He made the announcement after he and Arikapudi Gandhi laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed critical care block in Kondapur. The government allocated ₹41 crore for the project.
The minister said the government was strengthening emergency services to ensure response teams reach accident sites within ten minutes. Accordingly, officials are increasing the number of 108 ambulances. At the same time, the state is building 31 Critical Care Blocks across Telangana.
Telangana trauma centres plan targets faster emergency response
He said the government has already inaugurated critical care units in Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Mahabubabad, Jagtial, Sangareddy, Narayanpet and Adilabad. Meanwhile, authorities are constructing 21 more facilities. They expect to make all units operational by the end of this year.
The Telangana trauma centres plan focuses on integrating highway emergency care with hospital-based treatment. As a result, medical teams can stabilise patients during the critical golden hour after accidents.
The minister said the Kondapur block will provide advanced medical infrastructure and specialised care. He added that the government aims to complete construction quickly and begin services with modern equipment.
Meanwhile, he noted that health issues linked to sedentary lifestyles are increasing in the IT corridor. He said the Kondapur Area Hospital already provides upgraded services to local residents.
He added that the government will introduce more advanced medical services in the future. Therefore, the new facility is expected to support rising healthcare demand and improve access to specialised treatment.
