Hyderabad: A trainee sub-inspector (SI) in Telangana’s Karimnagar district has landed in legal trouble after allegedly assaulting a Dalit man, police said on Tuesday.
The case was filed against the trainee SI, identified as Brugu, under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following a complaint lodged by B. Mahender, a resident of Somaram village.
Mahender alleged that he was assaulted by the trainee SI on June 8. Acting on the complaint, Sub-Inspector Ch. Tirupati launched an investigation and subsequently registered a case against Brugu on Tuesday.
The incident has sparked concern in the area, with the local police assuring that a fair probe will be conducted into the allegations.
