Hyderabad: The Telangana government is set to delete 76,842 names from the state’s ration beneficiary list after a field-level inquiry identified them as ineligible. The verification process, conducted over the past six months, focused on cardholders who had not collected rations during the period.
Officials from the Civil Supplies Department have forwarded district-wise lists of these ineligible beneficiaries to respective Collectors. Final removal from the official beneficiary database is expected shortly, and ration entitlements for these individuals will be discontinued.
The Centre had earlier flagged beneficiaries who had not lifted rations for six consecutive months, categorising them as suspicious. The State Government officials then conducted on-ground verification through revenue officials at the mandal level.
Nearly 60 per cent of the flagged names were confirmed as ineligible. These included individuals who had migrated, deceased persons, and those with duplicate entries in different locations. The majority of such cases were found in districts like Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, and Medchal.
Despite offering free rice to ration card holders, a significant number have not been availing it. The Civil Supplies Department has now finalised the removal list based on the reports submitted by field-level teams.
