Hyderabad: Telangana may establish a thermal power plant at the Naini coal block in Odisha. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said this on Friday. A team of Energy department officials will assess the feasibility of the proposed project. This will be at the pit-head of the coal block operated by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
Bhatti discussed the proposal with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a meeting held at a hotel in Begumpet, Hyderabad. He stated that the Telangana government would decide on the project after its team completes a detailed field study. This study will be conducted in the Naini area.
The meeting was attended by Energy department Principal Secretary Navin Mittal. Singareni CMD Krishna Bhaskar also attended, along with senior SCCL officials including Satyanarayana and Tirumala Rao.
