Telangana seeks more time to file status report in phone tapping case

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Tuesday requested the Supreme Court for additional time to file a status report in the ongoing phone tapping case.

The court had earlier granted anticipatory bail on May 29 to retired IPS officer T. Prabhakar Rao, named as an accused in the case, and had directed the state to file a status report before the next hearing.

A bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and KV Viswanathan took up the matter on Tuesday. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the state, sought more time to submit the report. The bench accepted the request and adjourned the hearing to August 25.

Bail extended until next hearing

The court also extended the interim protection granted to Prabhakar Rao for the Phone tapping case until the next hearing date.
