Second phase of Telangana panchayat polling concludes amid widespread interest

Hyderabad: Telangana’s second phase of panchayat polling concluded peacefully on Sunday. Voting began at 7 am and continued until 1 pm, with a strong voter turnout reported across the state.

Although polling officially closed at 1 pm, officials permitted those already in queue to cast their votes. This phase covered 192 mandals, where elections were held for 3,911 sarpanch and 29,917 ward member positions.

Counting, Results, and What’s Next

Following polling, election staff took a one-hour lunch break before starting the counting process at 2 pm. Once counting concludes and officials declare the results, deputy sarpanch elections will take place.

While a few areas experienced minor tensions and confrontations, police acted swiftly to maintain order. As a result, the polling process moved forward without major disruptions.

Anticipation Builds Over Results

The announcement of results has sparked significant interest among voters and candidates. For many, the sarpanch role marks a first step in their political journey, adding to the stakes.

In the first phase, the Congress party secured a majority of seats. Now, political analysts are keen to see whether that momentum continues or if new trends will emerge. With the third phase on the horizon, the second phase outcomes could shift the narrative and create additional suspense.
