Telangana receives Rs 387 crore under 15th Finance Commission Funds

Hyderabad: The Centre released Rs 387.53 crore to Telangana as the third tranche under the 15th Finance Commission Funds following completion of Gram Panchayat elections.

With this instalment, the State has received Rs 1,034.42 crore so far under the central grants. Officials said the allocation would strengthen rural development works.

The government will utilise the funds for village infrastructure. These works include sanitation management, drinking water supply, installation of street lights and repairs of internal roads.

However, around Rs 2,000 crore due to Telangana under the Commission’s grants remains pending with the Centre. State officials said the delay has slowed execution of several development programmes.

15th Finance Commission Funds of Rs 2,000 crore still pending

State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka urged the Centre to release the remaining amount without delay. She said uninterrupted flow of 15th Finance Commission Funds was essential for steady rural progress.

Further, she directed officials to ensure effective utilisation of the amount already received. She asked them to prioritise clearance of pending bills and accelerate essential infrastructure works in villages.

The Minister also stressed transparent spending to ensure direct benefits to people. According to an official statement issued on Friday, the State government remains committed to comprehensive rural development.
