Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government had planned Telangana road infrastructure investments on a large scale to strengthen transport systems across the state. He made the statement after meeting representatives of PICO Technology at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday. According to him, Telangana road infrastructure investments aim to build a modern and integrated network that supports future growth.
IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu also attended the meeting. During the interaction, officials discussed infrastructure expansion. They also reviewed opportunities for global firms exploring investments in Hyderabad and across Telangana.
Telangana road infrastructure investments focus on ring road expansion
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said authorities were developing a Regional Ring Road about 30 kilometres beyond the existing Nehru Outer Ring Road. In addition, planners designed a network of radial roads to connect the new corridor with the city.
He said the government was planning rail connectivity alongside these ring roads. As a result, the integrated system would match transport networks in leading global cities. He added that this approach would improve connectivity and ease regional mobility.
The Minister said these projects formed part of a long-term infrastructure strategy. Therefore, the government aimed to improve access and reduce travel time for both intra-city and inter-city traffic.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said construction of a double-decker road between Hayathnagar and LB Nagar was underway. The lower deck will serve local traffic. Meanwhile, the upper two decks will handle vehicles entering and exiting the city.
He said Hyderabad would become the second city after Nagpur to develop such double-decker roads. Furthermore, he said the tendering process would conclude within two months. Work will begin immediately after authorities finalise the process.
The Minister said these initiatives would strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a growing urban centre. He added that Telangana road infrastructure investments would continue to expand capacity and improve connectivity.
