Telangana releases ₹720 crore for pending government employee bills

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday released ₹720 crore to clear pending employee bills of government employees, fulfilling its promise to settle long-standing dues.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed officials to disburse the funds on Saturday evening. The release covers pending employee bills and payments for January. It includes gratuity, General Provident Fund (GPF), advances, and surrender leave encashment.

Earlier, the government assured the unions that it would allocate over ₹700 crore every month to clear employee bills and dues from the previous regime. Officials said the government released ₹183 crore by June last year. Since August, monthly payments have consistently crossed ₹700 crore.

Full surrender leave employee bills dues cleared

Officials confirmed that the latest release cleared all pending surrender leave encashment dues from 2022 to February 2025 in one tranche. Therefore, the government said the move shows its commitment to resolving bills and payments on time.

The finance department will continue monthly releases as promised. Officials said this will ease the burden on employees who have waited for years for their dues.
