Telangana police future readiness plan discussed at officers retreat

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asked the state police department to prepare for emerging challenges and draw up a long-term operational roadmap for the next 25 years.

He made the remarks while attending Police Officers Retreat 2026 at the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy. The programme took place after a long gap.

Senior officers from several wings of the department attended the retreat. Officials briefed the Chief Minister under the Future Ready initiative.

The officers presented proposals through PowerPoint presentations. They explained structural and technological reforms required for future policing.

The Chief Minister said technology had transformed the nature of crime. Digital platforms created new opportunities for criminal activity.

Therefore the department must strengthen the cybercrime wing. Officers must also examine modern investigative tools to respond quickly.

During the programme officials launched the Telangana Police Academy Learning Management System. The Chief Minister later addressed senior police officers participating in the retreat.

Telangana police future readiness proposals reviewed by government

The Chief Minister said Telangana must prepare for national development goals set for 2047. Telangana police future readiness plans therefore required structured policy support.

He announced that the government would constitute a committee under the Chief Secretary. The panel will include secretaries from the Transport, Finance and Law departments.

The committee will review legal, financial and administrative aspects of the proposals. It will also examine technological requirements presented by police officials.

The government will take further decisions after reviewing the committee’s recommendations. The Chief Minister said the state could allocate funds if required.

However the department must ensure effective use of public resources. The reforms must produce measurable results.

He also warned officers against complacency after entering public service. Government employment increases responsibility toward society.

The Chief Minister referred to policing challenges in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. Telangana police should study those experiences.

He also asked the department to rationalise manpower deployment based on population and local needs. Officials attending the event included Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goel and RBVRR Telangana Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht.
