Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an IMD rain alert for Telangana, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall and gusts reaching 45 kmph over the next 24 hours.
Driven by active monsoon currents and a prevailing trough, widespread showers are expected across the state. The IMD has urged residents to remain indoors during strong wind spells and avoid sheltering under trees.
Districts flagged for moderate rainfall include Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Rangareddy. Light rainfall is likely in the remaining areas.
Hyderabad, already lashed by persistent rain in recent days, reported traffic congestion and waterlogging in several localities. While the rainfall has aided sowing activity across rural belts, urban disruption has intensified.
The IMD projects a brief respite over the weekend, with clearer skies and a drop in temperatures forecast for Sunday and Monday.
