Hyderabad: The Telangana government enforced a mandatory departmental test for Assistant Section Officers, Senior Stenographers, Junior Stenographers and Typist-cum-Assistants recruited after May 12, 2014. These employees joined under the Telangana Secretariat Subordinate Service Rules, 1997. They must now clear the exam titled “Proficiency in Office Automation with usage of Computers and Associated Software.”
Chief secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao issued the notification. He said staff who entered service without clearing the test during probation must complete it now. The amendment came under Article 309 of the Constitution and replaced the earlier clause in Rule 9(c). The change also set one uniform condition for all listed categories.
TGPSC to conduct departmental test
Hyderabad: The government instructed the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to run the departmental test along with its regular half-yearly exams. The commission holds these tests twice each year, so the automation exam will follow the same cycle. Officials said the combined schedule will help employees plan their attempts and meet the rule. They noted that the change aims to raise basic computer skills across Secretariat offices.
