Telangana invests ₹60,000 crore in road development: Komatireddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Wednesday said the state government launched road development projects worth ₹60,000 crore across Telangana.

He made the announcement while laying the foundation stone for the four-lane expansion of the Mahabubnagar–Nalgonda road from Nagarjunasagar X Road to Darveshipuram Ellamma Temple. The ₹50 crore project includes a central median and LED street lighting. Komatireddy said work on the stretch would start within a week.

The Minister said the government spent ₹12 crore to fix accident-prone areas at Darveshipuram by building CC roads, installing medians, and upgrading lighting. He added that officials were carrying out other infrastructure upgrades in rural areas, including work on the Kothapalli–Musumpalli road and improvements to rural roads and drainage systems.

Komatireddy said the government sanctioned ₹450 crore for lining the AMRP canal to strengthen irrigation. In Nalgonda town, officials modernised arterial roads with medians and street lights, while bypass road works continue to ease traffic movement.

He also criticised the previous government for failing to distribute a single ration card in ten years. In contrast, he said the current administration began delivering on its six guarantees, which include free RTC bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, ₹5 lakh Indiramma houses, Rythu Bharosa, and a ₹500 per quintal bonus for fine rice. He said officials sanctioned 18 new ration shops in his constituency and ensured that every village received one.

Komatireddy further said the BJP lost public trust in Telangana.
