Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has thrown out a 2021 case filed against Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay for allegedly breaching the election code. The complaint, tied to the MLC polls in November that year, was linked to his visit to procurement centres in Suryapet district.
At the time, Sanjay was state BJP president. During the graduate constituency elections for Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal, he had toured several rice purchase points. The administration alleged it amounted to campaigning during a restricted period.
A complaint was lodged on 16 November 2021 by then Penpahad tehsildar Shashi Giri Rao. Based on his report, local police booked Sanjay under election-related provisions.
His legal counsel told the court there was no material evidence. The court agreed, noting no breach could be proven on record. The case has now been closed.
